What is Laser Therapy?

Two types of laser:  1. Cold laser:  utilizing light energy to excite the cell membrane, result in energy production and increase metabolism thus reduce healing time.  2. High power (class IV laser) utilizing higher energy light therapy that combine the cold laser function and also able to break up adhesion and possibility resolve fibrosis and calcification at the tendon attachment site.  

What should I expect at my laser therapy appointment?

Doctor/assistant will place the laser prob over the area of complaints and move it from one spot to the next.  Patient may feel heat under the treatment area and redness may appear over the treatment area at the completion of treatment.  Total treatment time is around 12-15 minutes.
