What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a form of treatment that restores, maintains, or increases the body's mobility and well-being done through exercise, injury prevention, and physical rehabilitation. Unique treatment plans are implemented to help patients manage pain and prevent disease. It is generally practiced without the use of medications or invasive therapies and treatments. Patients often experience decreased pain and increased mobility after treatment. Treatments may not be immediately effective.

Am I a candidate for Physiotherapy treatment?

To determine if you are a candidate for Physiotherapy treatment, a physician needs to perform a complete clinical assessment and examination. If you are not a candidate for Physiotherapy care, or if you require medical treatment beyond the scope of Physiotherapy, you will be referred to the appropriate specialist or practitioner.

What should I expect at my Physiotherapy appointment?

You will be asked to complete paperwork about your medical history and reason for visiting the physician. After examination by your physician, a report of findings and a proposed treatment plan will be given. You may be treated to prior treatment, such as massage, to help your body prepare for Physiotherapy treatment. The purpose of the treatment is to relieve pain and stiffness and increase blood circulation.
